Is there any entry fee for the summer services?
Everyone is welcome to the summer services to look around and listen and to meet friends. The wish of the arrangement committee is that as many as possible can stop to listen to the sermon of the living Word of God in which the central meaning is the proclamation of the forgiveness of sins for everyone who want to hear and believe it. There is no participation fee at the summer services. Car parks are also free. However, a fee is charged for lodging at the service site.
Can the summer services be heard over the Internet?
Sure, the summer services can be heard on the summer service's own website. Services can be heard over several local radio stations around Finland. Links for the service radio stations will be posted on the service radio website before the services start.
How can one come to the summer services?
You can come to the summer services with your own car or with public transportation. The nearest bus and railway station are located in the city center of Vaasa, about 10 km away from the service area.
How obligatory are the route recommendations coming to the service area?
The organizers have planned the traffic coming to the summer service area to be as safe and smooth as possible. Following the recommended routes will prevent unnecessary congestion and long lines of traffic. It is important to follow the route recommendations.
How can lodging be reserved for the summer services?
The lodging committee is prepared to offer many kinds of lodging for the summer service time. There is common lodging, which is arranged at schools and private homes, from where you can rent a cottage from near the summer service area. All the necessary contact information and online shop for lodging can be found on this page.
How should we prepare for the summer services?
The summer service area has the basic services: service cafeteria, store, bank and postal services and a health center. You should prepare for different kinds of weather with different clothing, rubber boots and warm clothes are necessary. It is also worthwhile to take such shoes that you can walk in different types of terrain, such as grass, forest paths, and sandy roads.
I have hurt my foot and moving around is painful. Can I get a place in the invalid area?
The invalid area is meant for the service guests who have an invalid parking permit from police authorities. It is not possible to use the invalid parking due to a temperary ailment. Hopefully you can get a place close to the services around the service area. The sermons are heard through loudspeakers and the area radio throughout the entire service area.
How is driving around restricted?
Unnecessary driving around is avoided. People move around in the service area only on foot. Gravel roads are left free for incoming traffic and for service/maintenance vehicles. Traffic in the service area is closed from 1 am to 6 am except for income service guest traffic.
Where can I get more info on food served at the summer services that is suitable for me?
We strive to serve the service guests with a variety of foods. Different diets are recognized and we hope that there is good food for everyone.
What must a person with special diet take into consideration?
You can find all the most common special diet foods in the cafeteria area (lactose-free, milk-free, gluten-free foods). All the product info of all the foods served are on the summer service website, info station and all the cafeteria points by asking. For people with several allergies, it is a good idea to study the product ingredients beforehand and bring food if necessary.
What types of bank cards do you accept?
At the summer services, you can pay with cash or bank cards, Visa, MasterCard, Visa Electron , Diners Club, and American Express cards. Whe paying at the cashier, the largest bill that can be given is a 50 euro bill. Please break larger bills at the service site bank.
Is there any waste recycling?
All the bottles, cafeteria biowaste and energy waste are sorted at the summer service site. At the service area, the bottles are returned to a return point, waste from the lodging areas is collected as energy waste and will be delivered to the power station to be burned. Wood and metal waste used in the construction and tearing down of the service site will also be sorted.
How can I pay the Service area/lodging fee?
The service area/lodging fee is paid in advance online with your own bank passwords on the summer service website. Print the receipt and have it posted in visible place in your caravan or tent.
Can pets be brought to the summer service area?
To guarantee environmental hygene and general safety bringing your pet to the service site is forbidden.
Why cant I reserve places from my friends and relatives?
The service guests come into the area from different directions. Filling in empty spaces caused by reserving places for others causes congestion and can cause accidents. The area reserved for lodging is so large that there should be room for all. If some areas are left unfilled, there is not room for all.
Why cant we set up tent groups?
Groups of several tent groups are a risk for accident, especially if they are connected under the same tarp.
Can I charge my mobile phone at the site?
There is a mobile phone charging place at the service site located near the kiosk. You must have your own charger. (Tablets cannot be charged at the charging place. )
Can we wish for songs during breaks?
Plans for the songs and hymns were completed in January. Adding a favorite song event isn't possible now, even if the idea would be worthwhile.
Why can't we hear the summer service radio everywhere?
The power used in temporary radio broadcasts is lower than in permanent radio broadcasts. That is why summer service radio isn't heard as well as YLE radio stations. However, about 4.7 million listeners can hear the summer service radion broadcasts in Finland, and the program will be posted on the Summer Service webside after the services.
